NWPL: Nasarawa slay Saadatu, Robo return to winning ways, Confluence Queens lose invincibility

The Nigeria Women Premier League Week Four games saw some frenetic action on Wednesday and Thursday, with interesting results recorded across the seven match centres.
Here’s the weekly wrap up from nwfl.com.ng:

FC Robo Queens 3-2 Ibom Angels
FC Robo Queens zoomed to the top of the Nigeria Women Premier League Group A when they edged Ibom Angels 3-2 in a thrilling encounter at the Legacy Pitch on Wednesday.
Ibom Angels striker, Charity Reuben, took her tally to three goals in three games, courtesy of two smart efforts.
The vocal Robo fans had plenty to cheer with goals scored by Esther Ndubuisi, Ajibade Rasheedat and Monday Gift.

Sunshine Queens 2-2 Bayelsa Queens
Yetunde Adeboyejo and Tessy Biawho were on song as Bayelsa Queens drew 2-2 with Sunshine Queens at the Akure Township Stadium.
Adeboyejo opened the scoring after 18 minutes, before Patience Agbokadi leveled matters for the Owena Mermaids on the half hour.
Biahwo was on target as she put her team in front again from the penalty spot, before Ijeoma Obi popped up to grab a much needed equaliser for Sunshine Queens.

Abia Angels 0-0 Rivers Angels
Rivers Angels picked a crucial away point, drawing their game against Abia Angels 0-0, in front of a manageable crowd inside the Umuahia Township Stadium.
The Pride of Benue began the game brightly, taking it to the resolute Anambra Warriors, who concentrated on defensive matters.
Both teams tried their luck with long high balls which upped the excitement somewhat. But at the end of proceedings the two sides shared the spoils in Umuahia.

Osun Babes 0-0 Adamawa Queens
Adamawa Queens put up a brave display to draw 0-0 with Osun Babes in their Group B clash at the Oshogbo Township Stadium on Wednesday.
Home side, Osun Babes, hit the woodwork on three occasions in a frustrating afternoon for the Omoluabi Queens
Adamawa were indebted to their goalkeeper Obidinma Nkiru who pulled great saves to deny the home team.

Edo Queens 3-1 Confluence Queens
Edo Queens produced a five star performance to end the unbeaten run of Confluence Queens in Benin City.
It took 18 minutes for the home side to take the lead when Vivian Uwandi calmly slotted beyond the helpless Mercy Vincent.
Jumbo Nnegi would soon make it 2-0 with an easy tap in, benefiting from an atrocious defending on the part of the New Direction Queens.
Confluence Queens reduced the deficit through Chindinma Anuruo. The former COD Ladies poked home Ogechi Joseph’s brilliant free kick.
The game was put to bed in the 45th min thanks to Muoka Sylva well dispatched spot kick.

Saadatu Amazon 0-2 Nasarawa Amazons
Even an uncharacteristically quiet day for Anam Imo could not hinder a regulation win for Nasarawa Amazons, with goals from Chinyere Igboamalu and Amarachi Okoronkwo. It speaks volumes about the form Nasarawa find themselves in that a good side like Saadatu Amazon were restricted to two viable chances.

Pelican Stars 1-1 Delta Queens
Neither side will be particularly happy with a point especially in light of positive results for other teams in the group.
Blessing Edoho gave the Pelican Stars the lead midway through the first half but as so often they were unable to hold on to it for long. Maryann Ezenagu equalised just 4 minutes later but overall it was a mildly improved performance from Delta Queens.
