Investors on the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Wednesday staked N3.60 billion on 276.74 million shares in 4,859 deals.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that this was against 277.69 million shares worth N3.49 billion traded in 4,793 deals on Tuesday.
The market indices rose further by 0.21 per cent as a result of price gains posted by some blue chips.
The All-Share Index rose by 81.32 basis points or 0.21 per cent to close at 39,298.97 from the 39,217.65 recorded on Tuesday.
The market capitalisation, which opened at N12.910 trillion, grew by N27 billion or 0.21 per cent to close at N12.937 trillion.
Seplat, for the second consecutive day, led the gainers’ chart, appreciating by N39.90 to close at N666.79 per share.
Total followed with a gain of N2.50 to close at N171.50, while CAP rose by N1.85 to close at N39.60 per share.
Mobil rose by N1.85 to close at N122, while Nigerian Breweries gained N1 to close at N149.99 per share.
Conversely, Okomu Oil recorded the highest price loss, dropping N2.10 to close at N39.90 per share.
Guinness lost N2 to close at N188, while Flour Mill lost N1.14 to close at N67.35 per share.
Beta Glass dipped by 98k to close at N18.97, while GT Bank declined by 39k to close at N27.41 per share.
The financial services sector remained the most active with FBN Holding trading 41.82 million shares valued at N516.47 million.
GT Bank traded 28.09 million shares worth N770.45 million, while Zenith Bank accounted for 27.38 million shares valued at N617.30 million in 405 deals.
Fidelity Bank sold 20.91 million shares value at N42.69 million, traded in 104 deals.
Similarly, Transcorp traded 20.63 million shares worth N78.47 million in 279 deals.
