Nasarawa United and Rivers United will go toe to toe in a match day Nigeria Professional League game in Lafia on Sunday (today).
Rivers United come into the fixture on the back of a 0-2 loss to Katsina United in a rescheduled NPFL game on Thursday.
It was the Pride of Rivers’ first loss in four games in all competitions and they will be looking to fight back and put their floundering campaign back on track.
The occasion today will be extra special for Rivers United midfielder, Esosa Igbinoba, who will be returning to his old stomping ground to face his former club.
Nasarawa United striker, Babangida Ibrahim Hamisu, said Esosa will get a warm reception from the home faithful.
Hamisu told Rivers United official website: “Esosa is a very good player who did very well for Nasarawa United before he joined Rivers United.
“He will get a good reception from fans of the club (Nasarawa United).
“We are not intimidated by the prospect of facing Rivers United and will approach the game with the aim of amassing all three points.”
Esosa also took the time to discuss Sunday’s game.
The Rivers United midfielder still enjoys a special relationship with fans of the Solid Miners and revealed that he will not celebrate if he scores against his former club today.
He said: “The fans of Nasarawa United showed me so much love and I will not celebrate if I score against (Nasarawa United on Sunday).
“However, I am a professional and will try to help my team, Rivers United win on Sunday.”
