As part of its benevolence, the Niger State Government has declared that all land owners in the state will benefit from the Certificate of Occupancy bonanza.
Speaking with The Eagle Online, the State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Jonathan Vatsa, said the initial amount of over N160,000 has been slashed down to as low as N15,000 for urban areas and rural areas to pay N5,000.
Vatsa said the bonanza, which is tagged: “Abu Lolo Certificate of Occupancy bonanza,” an initiative of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, is to last for six months.
It will be from January 1 to June 30, 2017.
While urging land owners to take advantage of the C of O bonanza, which has been slashed by over 90 per cent, the Commissioner said the fee will revert to its original price of over N160,000 after the June 30 deadline for the bonanza.
This offer, he said, is for farmlands, residential and commercial land owners, with all going for a flat rate and same applies to those in the rural areas.
According to Vatsa: “This is a new year package from Mr. Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, to all land owners in the State.
“This bonanza will further equip owners rightful ownership title of their lands, thereby refraining intruders from illegally encroaching and trespassing on their landed properties.”
