Barely one week after youths from Kagara town presented a compendium to him in Minna, the National Association of Nigeria Students on Wednesday endorsed the candidature of Governor Aliyu’s former Chief of Staff, Hon. Umar Nasko, as their preferred candidate for the 2015 gubernatorial election in Niger State.
The NANS, Niger State chapter member institutions include the National Association of Niger State Students, Student Union Government of the Ibrahim Babangida University Lapai, SUG undergraduate section of the College of Education Minna and the Niger State Entertainment and Promoters Association.
The students unions from various institutions besieged the campaign office of the gubernatorial aspirant in Minna and pledged their support to Nasco, who is vying to be the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The students presented an endorsement letter to the Deputy Director of the Evergreen Mandate Group, a group spearheading the campaign for Nasko, Hajiya Aisha Morgan.
The National President of NANIS, Comrade Mohammed Chatta, while presenting the association’s endorsement letter to Morgan, extolled the qualities of Nasko, stating: “The sayings of youths being the future leaders is gradually coming to reality.”
Other groups spoke in the same vein as they expressed expectations for him to empower more youths and women when he finally comes into power.
Morgan thanked the groups for their endorsement and partnership.
She stated that the group is ready to partner with drug free, well behaved and serious minded youths.
She then urged the various groups to mobilize towards ensuring that their members and supporters get their voter cards and PDP membership cards.
According to her: “We cannot get Hono. Umar Nasko to the number one seat unless you get your voter cards.
“He is a good member of PDP.
“Go to your local government and wards and obtain a PDP membership card so that you can support him fully.”
