A special team of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has confined Ogun State Senator-elect, Buruji Kashamu, to his Lagos residence.
This position was stated by the spokesperson of the NDLEA, Mitchel Ofoyeju, in a statement on Saturday.
Ofoyeju spoke via a press statement after several hours of cat and mouse game between the agency and Kashamu, who is to be extradited to the United States of America.
The spokesman of the anti-drug agency said the confinement of Kashamu would be pending his appearance in court on Monday to perfect his extradition to the United States.
Ofoyeju quoted the Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Ahmadu Giade, as saying the operation is in line with the legal process of extradition.
Giade was quoted as saying: “The Agency has commenced extradition procedures against Senator-elect, Buruji Kashamu in line with the laws of country. He has been in contact with his attorneys and will appear in court on Monday.”
The residence of Buruji was raided by narcotic operatives at about 5am on Saturday.
Ofoyeju said further information will be communicated to the media.
