Following the disappearance of N150million in Government House Minna, the All Progressives Congress in Niger State, has asked the Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, to ensure a full investigation into the missing money so as to expose those behind it and punish them accordingly. The party said in line with its stand against corruption, the governor should not spare any member of the party who has soiled his hands by stealing money meant for the government.
The party in a statement in Minna on Sunday and signed by the Publicity Secretary Jonathan Vatsa stated that for the state to get it right, the Governor must toe the line of General Muhammadu Buhari anti-corruption stand and axe any officials found wanting within his government.
The statement is coming on the feelers of alleged missing N150million in government house which the office of the Chief of Staff could not account for and this has not gone down well with the governor who insisted and ordered a full scale investigation into the missing money. Vatsa said it could not afford to dash the hope of millions of
Nigerians who believed in the present administration by going back to the era of outright looting of public funds by government officials to the detriment of the masses.
According to him “Niger state has been looted under the PDP government for the past 8 years to stupor, even if it was yesterday that our dear governor appointed any of our member and he is found wanting the next
day such an official should be axed”. He pointed out that the stories emanating from the Government House over the disappearance of such huge amount of money with just two months into the life of the administration is very worrisome and it calls for urgent action.
Accordingly, he said “for the state to get it right, self centred government officials who do not see their appointment as service to the people which is the guiding principle of the present administration but a way to enrich themselves should be quickly shown the way out”.
Vatsa maintained that the APC fought tooth and nail to upstage the PDP elements who were traditionally known for looting, adding therefore that for the government to be seen living above board of what it accused PDP of, deviant within its government who refused to abide by the principle of transparent of Governor Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello’s
administration must be booted out.
“Our party is not a party where people go to government to enrich themselves all for fatal political pursuit, if you loot to come and contest under our party you will be treated exactly how looters should
be treated, we are confident that our dear Governor is vigilant to watch all appointed officials. “This does not mean people should not be given their deals, in fact those who deny others their deals are same people who engage in
aberrations in their financial dealing and the Governor should not consider any political implication before sacking corrupt elements. “We are sounding this warning because we don’t want our party members
appointed to think that because they are members of APC they will be spare in the Governor’s anti-corruptions agenda, in fact our party members should in the real sense be used as examples for others like civil servants, we therefore urge the Governor to sack any party man found wanting no matter the duration of his or her appointments before committing such offence”, the statement read in part.
Furthermore, the party stated that it is confident Governor Bello will not tolerate corruption and leakages and therefore urged party members to know that APC will not conduct affairs of government like PDP hence
the party will not engage in what it fought against.
