In commemoration of Easter, a call has gone to Muslims and Christians to unite as brothers and sisters given the common Abrahamic origin of their religions.
The call was contained in the Friday sermon by the Imam of the State House Mosque, Sheikh Abdulwaheed Abubakar Sulaiman.
Addressing the congregation made up of President Muhammadu Buhari, some members of the National Assembly, ministers and the Governors of Kaduna and Ogun States, Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i and Ibikunle Amosun respectively, the Imam emphasized the need for unity among the followers of the two major religions, asking them to share kindness and hospitality.
“We all belong to God and to Him we will be going back,” he said, adding that Muslims have the duty to follow the path of Prophet Muhammed (SAW) as defined in the Qur’an.
Sheikh Sulaiman urged Muslims and Christians to unite behind the administration of President Buhari as it fights corruption and insecurity in the land and at the same time seeking economic recovery and prosperity for all.
The Imam ended the sermon with prayers for the good health and wellbeing of the President and the nation.
