The Plateau State Chapter of the Council of Ulama and elders, has called on the Federal Government to step up efforts to curb out the menace of terrorism in the country.
The Secretary-General of the Council, Barrister Auwal S. Abdullahi, said on Sundayin a press release that the group had observed with dismay the recent bomb blasts at the Jos Terminus Market in Plateau State, Kano, Borno, Yobe and Adamawa States.
According to the statement: “Islam, the religion of peace, totally condemns the killing of innocent souls whether that of Muslims, Christians or Pagans. It says that if you take a life unjustly it is though you have taken the life of a nation.”
The statement further said the perpetrators of the killings have no religious basis, adding that their actions are clear contradictions to the teachings of the Holy books.
The Council, while commiserating with the families of those who lost their lives and wishing those injured a quick recovery, prayed Allah for the restoration of desired peace in the country.
