The Lagos State Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure, Prince Segun Oniru, has been honoured by the organizers of the environment-oriented pageant, Miss Earth Nigeria.
The Lagos prince was honoured for his achievement with the waterfront innovations as well his giant strides in keeping safe the Lagos State waterfront and making the state ocean-friendly and safe for Lagosians.
Speaking to the press on the decision to honour the commissioner, the principal organizer of the pageant and President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ibinabo Fibresema, said: “Who else could have gotten the honours?
“It is indeed a well deserved honour because the commissioner had been at the forefront of keeping our ocean and waterfront safe for all Lagosians.
“He has selflessly, with the utmost support of the Lagos State Government, done brilliantly well with his portfolio in the cabinent.
“And lastly, our theme for this year is: Year of Water Cooperation.
“So who else would aptly fit for the honour aside him?”
Oniru was all smiles as he received the award but also took time to explain that Lagosians needed to abide with the instructions of the state and ministry when announcements are made on television and radio stations on environment issues as they relate to the state’s waterfront.
He said if the coastline is not protected, it might spell doom for everyone.
