Odion Ighalo will be handed the chance to atone for his open-goal howler after his boss, Walter Mazzarri, told him a miss is as good as a smile.
The Hornets striker lodged a strong claim for miss of the season by putting his shot wide of a yawning goal in Watford’s 3-1 win over Manchester United last week.
And the 17-goal top scorer at Vicarage Road last season was taunted by captain and strike partner Troy Deeney: “We are not going to let him forget it.”
But head coach Mazzarri will unleash Ighalo at Turf Moor after revealing how he repaired the Nigerian’s morale with a few reassuring words from the touchline.
Mazzarri said: “Shortly after it happened, he came near the bench and I told him to forget it because these things happen in football and I was more interested in how he played.
“I said to him, ‘It’s gone, don’t even think about it’ and he went on to play a very good game.
“Since I arrived at the club, I have stressed to the players that the most important thing is the team winning and it doesn’t matter who scores as long as we stay one goal ahead of our opponents.
“There are no stars, no big names in our squad, and the responsibility for good performances does not fall on one individual player. We fight together, and we win or lose together as a team, as a club.”
