Some Leaders of the middle Belt zone in the country have expressed desire to engage politicians in Benue South zone to ensure that Senate President, David Mark returns to the senate and his post in the coming dispensation.
Already consultations have begun between the leadership of a new organization, North Central Agenda (NCA) with some politicians in the Idoma part of Benue state to ensure that nothing goes wrong in the nomination process of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the platform under which the senate President intends to contest the 2015 senatorial election.
National President of NCA, Prince Mark Elayo said yesterday in Abuja that his organization is going to provide the enabling environment for the meeting in view of the position of Senator Mark in the current power equation in the country.
According to him, the North Central Agenda has already commended the nine local council chairmen in Benue South that has taken the lead to endorse Senator Mark for the next election.
He said the group believes that the return of Mark is not just the task of the Idoma people but that of the entire North central zone where he has provided leadership in the last eight years.
Elayo who is also the Turakin Keanna said governors of the zone are giving their support for the project because of the clear direction which the Senate President is providing in the zone. “ he is not only providing direction and leadership in the zone, he identify the aspiration of the zone for Mr. President to be re-elected”
He said that the zone is “proudly PDP and will continue to support the party and its officials to ensure the realization of the transformation agenda”.
