The Ogun State Police Command on Thursday arrested a middle-aged man for allegedly raping a woman and beheading her two-year-old child.
According to the spokesman of the state police command, Muyiwa Adejobi, the suspect committed the crime at Ofada village in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state.
Adejobi said that the suspect was arrested at Ibafo, a few kilometres from Ofada, with the help of some community leaders.
Adejobi said that police interrogation revealed that the suspect had sold the head of the boy to a woman in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
He said the police had launched a manhunt for the woman, expressing optimism that she would soon be apprehended.
The suspect, who led the police to the scene of the incident, confirmed to newsmen that he committed the crime.
The mother of the child had gone to ease herself in a bush when the suspect trailed her.
The suspect was said to have attacked the woman, dragging her and her child into an uncompleted building where he committed the crime.
