Tragedy has struck at the Delta State University, Abraka campus.
One of the lecturers of the institution, Joseph Edah, is dead.
Edah’s sudden death after swimming in the pool of a hotel where he went to relax in Warri has thrown the students and his colleagues into melancholic mood.
He served meritoriously, The Eagle online gathered, in the Department of English and Literary Studies of the institution for a few years as a lecturer.
The lecturer, 38, happens to be the youngest in his department and among his colleagues in the institution.
A colleague lecturer who spoke on condition of anonymity in Asaba, said he was tempted to swim because the whether was hot on the fateful day.
“After swimming, he dressed up, when suddenly he slumped and fell on the floor. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment where he died moments after,” the source disclosed.
The source said Edah’s death has since thrown students, especially those in his department, and the entire staff of the institution into grief, maintaining: “It was a bitter pill for us to swallow.”
His students described him as a “calm, resourceful and down to earth man”.
