The Chairman of the Plateau State House of Assembly Committee on Commerce and Industry, Hon. Sa’adat Garga, has advocated for severe punishment for all tax payers in the state.
Garda on Thursday made this suggestion at the one-day sensitization and public-private dialogue on presumptive tax administration in Plateau State, organized by the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service.
He applauded the civil servants for not defaulting in payment of their taxes to the state’s internal revenue service.
He called on the state internal revenue board to make tax payment mandatory for everybody, including those who take pleasure in squandering money on expensive wines and other alcoholic drinks in Plateau State, especially in public places.
Garga said the internal revenue service has been given all the necessary power through the Nigeria presumptive tax regulations, 2013 to punish all tax defaulters in local government councils.
