The Electoral Committee of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter on Wednesday announced the rescheduling of its elections forNovember 5.
The elections had earlier been fixed for October 24.
This was contained in a statement by the Secretary of the Committee, Bunmi Ogunyale.
The statement said the committee, chaired by Tony Nezianya, a Deputy Editor-in-Chief with the News Agency of Nigeria, took the decision after the screening of candidates ahead of the elections.
The elections will take place at the association’s secretariat at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, Ogunyale said.
The statement said the election would be preceded by accreditation of members at 9am, while presentation of manifestoes would hold on November 4 at the same venue.
The statement added: “The new dates are to ensure that members will have the opportunity to view the list of those eligible to vote and be voted for.
“The list has since been pasted on the notice board at the secretariat.
“Anyone whose name is missing on the list of voters should approach the outgoing executive committee within the next four days.”
It said two candidates, Fred Edoreh and Oluwasegun Olanrewaju, had been cleared to contest the chairmanship position, while Chisom Mbonu had been given the green light to run as vice chairman unopposed.
Emmanuel Njoku and Wale Joseph would be contesting the position of the Secretary-General, while Monica Iheakam would contest as Treasurer, the statement added.
Also, Niran Adesanya is the only candidate for the position of Assistant Secretary.
