The Kwara State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria is shopping for a new Pillars of Sports in the state.
The Chairman of Kwara SWAN, Bunmi Adedoyin, stated this during a courtesy call on the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Alhaji Kale Ayo Nuhu, in his office on Monday.
Adedoyin said the move became necessary owing to the fact that the current Pillar of Sports, Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike, has been appointed as the Pillar of Sports in Nigeria by the national SWAN.
He said stakeholders in the state will be carried along in appointing a replacement for Chief Ejidike.
Ejidike was unveiled as the Pillar of Sports in Kwara State on August 8, 2010 and was appointed as the Pillar of Sports in Nigeria by the national SWAN on August 17, 2013.
According to Adedoyin, Chief Ejidike did tremendously well as the Pillar of Sports in the state and this attracted the national SWAN to elevate him.
He said it was necessary to allow him concentrate on the national assignment.
He commended Chief Ejidike for accepting the responsibility of serving as the Pillar of Sports in the state, adding that the relationship between SWAN and the Office of the Pillar of Sports will continue to blossom to uplift sports in Kwara State and Nigeria.
