Plateau State Governor and Chairman, Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), Jonah David Jang has called on the Christian faithful to pray for the peace, security and stability of the country.
Jang stated this in his Easter massage to Nigerians, noting that Easter signify the vicarious death of Christ on the cross and his glorious resurrection.
The Director of Press and Publications, Mr James Mannok, quoted the Governor as saying, “because of this great sacrifice by Christ, Nigerians must strive to stand on the path of truth, respect of human dignity and love for all God’s creation as the Word professes”.
He enjoined Christians to intensify efforts in prayer for a peaceful and egalitarian society in every part of the world and to reflect on the supernatural triumph of Christ on the Cross by striving to work in that power daily.
He noted that the frequent attacks on innocent citizens is by enemies of peace is meant to plunge the entire country into turmoil and advised all lovers of mankind and God to shun the provocation.
The Governor also advised religious leaders to preach to followers the true ideals of their faith and to uphold the secularity of the country.
Governor Jang wishes all Christians a peaceful and rewarding Easter celebration.
