Although Arsenal’s second and third goals during the 4-0 win over Swansea on Saturday were officially marked as own goals, Alex Iwobi said he’s going to fight for the first one as it came from a shot on target.
There’s no doubt the second one, deflected into his own net by former Spurs player, Kyle Naughton, was an OG, but the Nigerian international wants to add to his tally with the first.
“”I’m claiming the first one!,” he told the official site.
“It’s on target so I’m going to claim that one. Second one I can let slide, but the first one is definitely my goal.”
And after another fairly pedestrian first half, Iwobi says that Arsene Wenger told the team to up the intensity in the second period, and it was at the end of a period of sustained pressure that Iwobi’s first own goal came about.
“The boss got onto us a bit saying we know we can do better, just keep on moving the ball quickly, as fast as we can,” he said.
“In the second half we showed our quality and were able to get the three points.”
