Remember we are still discussing Sarah. God later blessed her with a son as He had promised. She did not just have a son, but an heir to the divine promise. The link to all the promises that God had given to Abraham – Isaac! Listen: “Then the LORD did exactly what he had promised. Sarah became pregnant, and she gave a son to Abraham in his old age. It all happened at the time God had said it would. And Abraham named his son Isaac.” Praise God! I see you having the last laugh after all these storms you are going through – in Jesus’ name! Those who laughed at you will soon begin to laugh with you.
Waiting upon God will always result in having the last laugh. Sarah waited. Sometimes it could be very difficult, but you must have to wait. That is just God’s way. Those that expect from Him must learn to be patient. His ways and timing are often different from ours. We often think that God is delaying in performing His promises, but that is not true. He only allows us and His promises to go through processes before manifestation. This explains why you see several on-going activities about you in the spirit realm before the actual manifestations in the physical. He works and watches over His words to bring them to pass. Go and ask the great men and women that walked with Him, they all had periods of waiting. Wait for Him. Wait in patience. Wait in expectation. I say again, wait. Because he must surely come!
Hannah was laughed at. She was mocked by Peninnah, her co-wife. Peninnah would mock Hannah until she would weep and weep, and refuse to eat. Who knows the words she was using to ridicule this woman? Maybe she called her ‘Hannah the barren’. Maybe a dead wood, an unproductive woman or even a ‘man’. I know that sometimes when people want to mock a barren woman, they tell the husband that he is marrying his fellow ‘man’. Again, she might have also used non-verbal actions or gestures. And sure, she must have laughed at her severally. These went on for so many years. Thank God, yes, thank God that Hannah held onto the God of Shiloh. And just in one night, that reproach was taken away from her. God put laughter on her lips. She began to sing a new song. She had her first baby – Samuel. God gave her the child that grew up to become one of the greatest prophets ever-lived. A prophet after God’s own heart. A prophet that could draw down rain even in the middle of dry season.
Hannah sang: “My heart rejoices in the Lord! Oh, how the LORD has blessed me! Now I have an answer for my enemies, as I delight in your deliverance.” Like Hannah, God is putting a new song on your lips today in the name of Jesus! You shall from today have answers to your mockers. You shall from today have answers to your enemies. They shall begin to realize that promotion belongs to the LORD. They shall see what the Lord has done in your life and praise Him with you. They will not have no choice, but to laugh with you.
Israel suffered mockery and very strong opposition from Tobiah and Sanballat. When Nehemiah came back from exile to Jerusalem to rebuild the city of God, these two archenemies and their gangs were very angry. They mocked the Jews and did everything humanly possible to discourage them. The project Nehemiah and his people were embarking upon was very important to their reunification and continued existence as a nation. It was going to mark the beginning of the end of their exile and the re-establishment of their relationship with their God. I say this because they were to rebuild the broken walls, the looted temple, the gates, and the entire city. They were also going to come back from different nations and cities where they have been scattered. They have been defeated, humiliated, scattered, and some taken into captivity. Those remaining in the destroyed city were living in fear, hiding in caves and rubbles. Israel was in the verge of being exterminated. This was the situation Nehemiah came to meet, and immediately started making efforts to rebuild it, when the enemies – Tobiah and Sanballat appeared to resist him. They first laughed and ridiculed his efforts. When that didn’t work, they planned to malign, fight and even assassinate him.
The enemy will always ridicule anything that is God’s. He hates God, his people and every divine project. Or can you show me any divine project that was not mocked or opposed by Satan in the bible? Yes, Satan! He is the person behind every mockery. I want you to look beyond that man, that woman or situation that ridicules you. See Satan – the chief mocker. He uses mockery as an instrument to frustrate divine projects and programmes. He uses it to discourage and distract you from your assignment. And he sure succeeds when you cave in or react negatively. Nehemiah knew this, which was why he relied totally on God throughout the period. He prayed and prayed. He applied divine wisdom. And God gave him total victory. He completed the work and had the last laugh. I see you having the final victory.
Jesus went through the same process. The enemy planned to mock Him right from His mother’s womb. He wanted Jesus to look like a bastard. This he would have achieved if Joseph had disengaged Mary. He was mocked by His brothers; who would tell Him to leave them alone and go up to Jerusalem to do His miracles. He was ridiculed by the Jews, Roman soldiers and religious leaders. They called Him names: king of the demons, impostor, usurper, false teacher, glutton, yet He remained focused to His divine assignment. He knew that He was going to have the last laugh; as every matter has hitherto been settled in haven before Hs coming. And He had the last laugh. He defeated the enemy, conquered death and won the everlasting crown of glory. Are you not seeing your own crown waiting for you at the end of this trial??
You are going to have the last laugh. Yes, I know that it has been very difficult and humiliating. It seems the shame and pains are unending. Just hold on! Look at the end of the matter – you will have the last laugh! Yes, you will! Till next week, God bless!
