A former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, on Monday maintained that he has no intention of quitting politics notwithstanding the failure of the party to win the Presidency.
I have no plan to quit politics, says Bamanga Tukur
According to him: “Politics is a game in which individuals choose on their own to participate and be involved and so the issue of retirement does not arise.”
The former National Chairman of the PDP in a statement by his Special Assistant (Media), Oliver Okpala, pointedly declared that he is in politics to serve the nation and give his best.
He pointed out that there was no basis for him to quit politics when Nigeria is in dire need of experienced politicians like him.
Tukur assured Nigerians that he will remain in politics in order to continue to advice young politicians on the need to institutionalise party discipline, supremacy and internal democracy in the polity.
He added that as long as things were not put in their rightful places, elder statesmen like him will remain in politics to bring sanity and show the way forward to young politicians.
Tukur therefore advised young politicians to always seek and corporate with older politicians in the overall interest of the nation.
