Guinea’s Prime Minister, Mohamed Fofana, on Thursday handed over the resignation of his government to President Alpha Conde at the Sekhoutoureya presidential palace in Conakry, an official source has confirmed.
Fofana told the media after the meeting that he and his government had officially resigned.
“This morning, the President came to his office and chaired a cabinet meeting organised for that particular reason,” the outgoing PM said.
He used the occasion to thank members of his cabinet for the work they had done in the last three years.
Fofana said: “Obviously, as I said elsewhere, in any human activity, there are always actions which succeed and others which fail.
“But generally, I am satisfied with the efforts put in by the outgoing members of the government.”
The resignation of the Guinean government was well expected, especially after Conde recently stressed the need to restructure his governmental team.
