Registration forms for the GOtv Boxing NextGen Search are now available at the secretariat of the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control, under whose auspices the event is being organised.
According to Remi Aboderin, the General Secretary of the NBB of C, interested boxers can pick of the forms at the secretariat within the National Stadium Complex in Lagos.
“The forms are available and at no cost. The search is open to boxers from all parts of the country. This is an opportunity for young boxers to get into the professional category,” Aboderin said.
GOtv Boxing NextGen Search, billed to hold in Lagos on February 17 and 18, is being organised to raise a new crop of professional boxers, especially by facilitating entry into the professional ranks by amateurs.
The event, which is being held in partnership with the Lagos Boxing Hall of Fame, is billed for the Lagos Boxing Hall of Fame Gym, Olatilewa Street, off Lawanson Road, Surulere, Lagos.
It will feature sparring sessions by registered boxers, who will be assessed over the two days by accomplished coaches who will select the most promising participants.
Boxers selected after the sparring sessions will be eligible to attend a sports/medical seminar at the Old Skool Restaurant, National Stadium on February 19.
Successful boxers will also enjoy free medical examination as well as payment for their boxing licences by the sponsors, GOtv.
