No fewer than 30 persons are said to have died from the Friday bomb explosion in Gombe, Gombe State.
The explosion occurred at the popular Gombe Line park in the city.
The initial fatality figure was put at nine.
It later rose to 23.
The state Commissioner of Police, Kudu Nma, said three persons have been arrested in connection with the crime.
Nma said: “A vehicle, which was suspected to have carried the bombers who came in with Improvised Explosive Devices, was recovered.
“Unfortunately for them, they were caught when they were about to run away.”
The explosion occurred around 9.30am, just as loading of buses at the park was at its peak.
Nma added: “For now, three suspects have been apprehended and we are reasonably suspecting they are the people who brought in the Improvised Explosive Device.
“Whether the vehicle was laden with IEDs, we cannot determine now until our EOD (Explosives Ordinance Department) make their investigation to determine that that very particular vehicle mentioned was already parked with IED or they came in the way they did in Azare last week.”
