The Senior Special to the President on National Assembly Matters, Senator Ita Enag, on Friday debunked media reports that President Muhammadu Buhari apologised to the Senate over the failure of the Attorney General of Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, to appear before a Senate Committee.
Enang had while briefing newsmen expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct of Malami’s representative before the Senate Committee.
However, Enang, in his reaction to the report, said there was no time he mentioned the President’s name during the briefing.
Enang said: “The attention of Senior Special Assistant to Mr. President on National Assembly Matters (Senate) has been drawn to reports in some online publication, purporting to have apologised to the Senate on behalf of the President and Commander-in-Chief, His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari, over the non-appearance of the Attorney General of the Federation, Malam Abubakar Malami, at a Senate public hearing.
“For avoidance of the doubt, at no time was the President’s name or office mentioned throughout the session from where the reporter claimed he got his report from.
“I wish to urge members of the public to discountenance the report.”
