A senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, Chief Francis Fadahunsi, has been accused of orchestrating an attack on the Electoral Officer for Ife East Local Government Area of the state in order to falsify the results of the entire Osun East Senatorial District.
In a statement, which was issued by the Media Assistant in the Election Situation Room of the party, Kunle Owolabi, the APC stated that the Electoral Officer, whose name was given simply as Mr. Awolusi, was originally considered to have made away with the results on his own plot when he did not show up at the final collation centre where the results of the poll in the senatorial district would have been announced.
Awolusi, according to the APC Election Situation Room, reappeared few hours after his disappearance, claiming that some unknown gunmen attacked him on his way to the Collation Centre and took away the result sheet from him and destroyed it.
The Situation Room stated: “This has held up the announcement of the result for the district but we know their plan. It is all to falsify the result in order to given victory to Fadaunsi who has been roundly defeated by our candidate, the incumbent Senator Jide Omoworare.
“The action and plot by Fadaunsi is an effort in futility. Our party had won and the result is out and it cannot be changed.”
The development has created tension in the state, especially in the senatorial district, as supporters of the APC candidate, Jide Omoworare, who is the incumbent senator, are poised for war if the matter was not resolved immediately by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
