Skeletal activities resumed at the secretariat of the Nigeria Football Federation in Abuja on Thursday, barely 24 hours after fire gutted it.
Aminu Maigari, Chairman of the NFF, and the scribe, Musa Amadu, reported for duty but operated from the office of Sunday Okai, the Head of its Referees Unit.
Fire destroyed documents in the Secretary-General’s office on Wednesday.
Staff members, especially those in the Competitions Department, led by Mohammed Sanusi, were also in the office.
Nigeria’s Nations Cup first-leg qualifier against DR Congo comes up onSeptember 6 in Calabar, Cross River State.
No fewer than 10 industrial cleaners were seen cleaning and evacuating debris, while an engineering company carried out impact assessment on the building.
Officials of the Federal Fire Service were also at the NFF secretariat to carry out impact assessment on the building.
Ime Eyo, the Operational Commander of the service, said that their report would be sent to the appropriate authority.
Eyo said: “What we are doing today is a pre-concept inspection.
“We will report to the authority when we are through with our job.”
The NFF moved into the building in 1997 and that this is the first time fire will gut the football secretariat.
