The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Mohammed.
Mohammed was arrested on Monday.
He was said to have been arrested over a petition accusing him of alleged fictitious contracts worth N1 billion; allocation of 12 properties and 37 commercial plots of land to a suspected front of his, Tariq Hammoud; and a controversial Abuja land swap deal put at N1 trillion.
Before Bello’s arrest, the EFCC had interrogated top directors of the FCT.
Among those quizzed were the Director of Treasury, Ibrahim Bomoi; the Director Land, Babayo Mainasara; and the Director, Abuja Geographical Information Service, Jamila Tangaza.
Bello’s son, Samshudeen Bala, was also quizzed.
