Enyimba win Super 4, N1.5m cash prize

Six times league winner, Enyimba FC of Aba, on Tuesday emerged champions of the just concluded pre-season tournament, otherwise known as Super 4, after edging out defending champion, Kano Pillars, in the last game of the competition.
Having secured nine points with six goals scored in all matches, the Aba-based club demonstrated their readiness to represent Nigeria in this year’s CAF Champions League, which kickoff is barely three weeks from now.
The only goal that separated the Peoples Elephant came late through Sibi Gwar in 82nd minute of the encounter decided at Abuja National Stadium.
Speaking shortly after the match, the Head Coach of Enyimba, Zakari Baraje, said his side was prepared to win and win take their winning streak to the 2013/2014 league season and the CAF Champions Cup.
According to Baraje: “I’m employed to win.
“I think I’m elated by this victory because in Enyimba you have to win, win and win.
“I have started winning and I pray it will continue to be so with the support of other technical crew members and the Abia State Government.
Also speaking, Kano Pillars gaffer, Abdullahi Maikaba, praised the effort of his team.
Maikaba said: “This tournament is good for us as we prepare for the continental clash and a new season because it is being organised to prepare us.”
In the other game played earlier, Warri Wolves defeated Bayelsa United 2-1 and are placed second at the end of the competition.
And so, Bayelsa finished bottom of the log without posting any win.
Kano Pillars grabbed three points.
