Super Eagles’ skipper, Vincent Enyeama, has returned to his club in France following a back injury the goal stopper sustained in the national team’s 1-0 lost to the Cranes of Uganda on Wednesday.
Enyeama, who was excused from Sunday’s international friendly with South Africa in Nelspruit on health ground, has been replaced by Daniel Akpeyi.
The team’s media officer, Toyin Ibitoye, hinted that Enyeama was ordered back to France by the Lique 1 side, Lille Metrpolis FC, to avail him all the medical attention that would be required.
“Enyeama’s leadership qualities would be missed against the South African but we just have to cope with the development and play for pride on Sunday. So, we would still have three goalkeepers in camp with Akpeyi joining the two others in camp,” Ibitoye said.
The Danile Amokachi-led team will depart from the Ibom International Airport, Uyo before midnight on Friday and fly direct to Nelspruit.
