Super Eagles’ gaffer, Sunday Oliseh, has come under serious attacks following the exit of goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, from the national team on Thursday.
Enyeama ended his national team career abruptly after an altercation with the head coach over arriving late to camp in Belgium and issues bordering on the team’s captaincy.
Oliseh is however on the receiving end with a larger chunk of Nigerian football followers believed the coach failed to handle the issue with the sense of maturity it requires.
First to react to the development was Chief Adegboye Onigbinde, who faulted the coach’s approach, saying he was too temperamental and appeared not mature to guide the Super Eagles to glory.
Onigbinde’s words: “Though, I wasn’t in Belgium, but from account of what I have heard and read in the newspapers, I think Oliseh must learn players management and tread with caution if he must succeed on the job.
“The players are human beings too and they must be accorded respect too.”
Inside sources hinted that the Super Eagles’ camp in Belgium went awry when the other players got wind of Enyeama’s retirement from the national team and there was clear division among the players.
Some of the players pitched tents with Ahmed Musa as the new captain, while some of them were sympathetic to Enyeama who was stripped of the captain’s band.
Our source also disclosed that the team were meshed in total distractions and could not come to terms with reality until their 2-0 loss to Congo’s Leopards, saying the team may not be able to pull back the strings before their crucial World Cup and Nations Cup qualifiers.
