The All Progressives Congress is in a comfortable lead in the Edo State governorship election.
This followed the lead it recorded in the results announced so far before officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission declared a one hour break from announcing the results of the election held on Wednesday.
The break was declared to enable the officials and others at the collation centre wait for the result from Ovia South West Local Government Area.
The INEC officials who conducted the election in the local government area were still being awaited.
But before the break, the APC was in a comfortable lead over the Peoples Democratic Party.
The results from 17 of the 18 local government areas announced so far showed that the APC has 306,663 votes, while the PDP scored 244,363 votes so far.
Except the rejected votes are substantial to warrant a rerun in some areas, the APC appears set for the Edo State Government House as the result from Ovia South West Local Government Area is not expected to have any major impact on the outcome of the election.
