Even after perfecting the third bail granted him by an Abuja High Court, operatives of the Department of the State Services have refused to allow former National Security Adviser, retired Colonel Sambo Dasuki, go home.
Dasuki was on Wednesday prevented from going home after he met the bail conditions/
The bails was granted him by Justice Peter Affem of an Abuja High Court.
This was after two other courts had done the same.
The counsel to Dasuki, Ahmed Raji (SAN), confirmed the development to PRNigeria.
Raji said the former NSA had met all the bail conditions given by Justice Affem, but regretted that the court order was not obeyed by the operatives of the DSS.
Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court, also in Abuja, had granted Dasuki bail on November 3 in the charges of unlawful possession of firearms, but the bail was on November 4 scuttled by the DSS, who instead of obeying the court order laid siege on his Asokoro Residence and placed him under house arrest.
The claim of the security agents was that Dasuki was being investigated on another matter.
He was later arraigned before Justice Yusuf Baba of an Abuja High Court on breach of trust.
He was granted bail.
But the DSS operatives also refused to obey the order.
Dasuki was also moved to another High Court presided over by Justice Peter Affem, who also admitted him on bail on the ground that the offence was a bailable one.
He had since met the bail conditions, but was not released from the custody of the DSS.
Since his ordeal began, Dasuki has been in detention at the facilities of the DSS, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and Kuje Prison, all in Abuja.
Raji, who perfected the bail condition of his client, disclosed that the actions of the security agents were an affront to the rule of law under democracy.
The lawyer appealed to the authorities of the security agents and the Federal Government to respect the court orders and allow Dasuki to enjoy the bail granted him by the law courts of the country.
