The Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of 260 Senior Police Officers to different ranks.
This was contained in a statement issued by Ikechukwu Ani, the Head of Press and Public Relations of the commission, in Abuja on Saturday.
The beneficiaries are one Assistant Commissioner of Police (Medical), promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police, and 205 Deputy Superintendents of Police elevated to Superintendents of Police.
Others are 54 Assistant Superintendents of Police (Veterinary) promoted to Superintendents of Police.
Ani said in the statement: “Chairman of PSC, Mr Mike Okiro, said it would continue to encourage the Police through regular and timely promotions.”
The statement advised the officers to reciprocate the gesture by committing themselves to greater productivity and efficiency in the service of the nation.
The statement advised them to operate within the confines of the law at all times and be guided by extant rules and regulations of the police.
It said the promotion was based on merit, availability of vacancies and maturity on a rank.
