The Chairman, North Central Zone of the Organization of African Instituted Churches, Bishop Raphael Benjamin Nwankwo, has called on Nigerians to shun corruption and cheating as it is un-Godly.
Bishop Nwankwo, who made the call in Ilorin, Kwara State in a chat with journalists, noted that the Bible warned believers not to get involved in corrupt practices.
He said whoever engages in such acts was not obeying the teachings of God.
The Chairman, who was in Ilorin for the 2016 Leadership Summit of the Organization, implored Christians to always be pacesetters and good ambassadors of Christ.
He called on the people to pay their taxes regularly and do the right things at all times in the task of developing the country.
Speaking on the release of some of the Chibok girls, Bishop Nwankwo described it as a welcome development and a relief to the society.
The Chairman called on the Federal Government to intensify efforts to ensure others still in captivity regain freedom.
He urged the people not to relent in prayer in this regard and for the leadership of the Country.
Also speaking, the Kwara State Chairman of OAIC, Pastor Ademola Popoola, commended the Federal Government for its pragmatic approach to fighting corruption.
Pastor Popoola however urged the government not to be partisan in fighting the menace and to follow due process and the rule of law in exterminating the scourge.
On the current recession affecting the Nation, the OAIC State Chairman charged Nigerians to redirect their thinking and focus, adding that hunger should not be a yardstick to take to crime because of its consequence.
He explained that the leadership summit, themed: “Creative leadership, catalyst to organizational growth,” was packaged for members of the Organization to improve their understanding, focus and to be transformed for creative leadership.
The body had earlier paid a courtesy call on the leadership of the State Christian Association of Nigeria, where the Chairman, Evangelist Timothy Opoola, emphasised the need for peace and relying solely on the word of God to ensure progress of the Nation.
Evangelist Opoola, who is a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Ilorin, appreciated the support of the Organization in the smooth running of CAN in the State and the Country at large.
