Nigeria’s Kano Pillars trounced Malakia of South Sudan 3-0 on Saturday at home to qualify for the first round of the CAF Champions League 5-0 on aggregate.
Pillars opened scoring in the 38th minute through striker Gambo Muhammed inside a packed Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.
The experienced striker then doubled his team’s lead a minute to full time.
Malakia put up a resolute display after the interval.
Adamu Hassan scored Pillars’ third goal in stoppage time to further break the resistance of the team from South Sudan.
The four-time Nigerian champions will now play against the winners of the match-up between Tetouan of Morocco and Olympique de Bamako of Mali in the next round of the competition in mid-March.
