A former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Yemi Osibajo, has emerged as the running mate of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari.
Indications to this effect emerged on Wednesday morning as Nigerians and the world awaited Buhari to make the formal announcement.
But there were also indications that Buhari may not address the press as announcedon Tuesday by the National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.
As at the time of filing this report, the national headquarters of the party in Abuja has become filled to capacity in anticipation of the announcement.
A source however told The Eagle Online that it is likely the choice of Osibajo would be made public via a press statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
Buhari was yet to be seen at the
Osibajo is a pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God.
He pastors the Olive Parish located on Banana Island, Lagos State.
His choice was said to have been to counter the negative impression of Buhari being an Islamic fundamentalist.
Feelers also reaching The Eagle Online has it that the Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, may be named the Director General of the campaign organisation for the 2015 general election.
A former Commissioner for Information in Lagos State, Dele Alake, will likely coordinate the media and publicity for the 2015 elections for the APC.
