The Senate President, Senator David Mark, has urged various campaign groups working for the release of the abducted Chibok secondary schoolgirls to collaborate with government agencies for the eventual release of the girls.
Mark said this when the #BringBackOurGirls campaigners stormed the National Assembly in Abuja again on Tuesday.
Mark said it has become imperative that the civil society groups and government agencies work together towards a common goal.
He said otherwise, they would be working at cross purposes in the quest to free the girls.
He said: “I am not sure any Nigerian with blood flowing in his vein will be indifferent to the plight of the Chibok girls.
“Government has not ruled out any option in the quest to free our girls.
“Let us be on the same wave length and free the girls alive.
“The case of the Chibok girls is a sad commentary.
“Nobody anticipated this ugly trend.
“We are all under stress locally and internationally.
“The situation does not call on anybody to grandstand.
“All hands must be on deck to rescue the girls.
“We must do everything humanly possible to rescue the girls alive, end insurgency and terrorism in the land.”
Mark appreciated the campaign, led by Dr. Oby Ezekwesili and Mariam Uwais, but reminded them that Boko Haram has declared war on Nigeria, a situation he noted demanded tact and purposeful approaches.
Senator Mark added: “What is important to all of us is to work hard to bring our girls alive.
“Nobody should politicize this.
“Lives are involved and we are all fathers and mothers here.
“It is better imagined than witnessed.”
Earlier, Ezekwesili and Uwais urged Mark to prevail on relevant authorities to intensify efforts to rescue the Chibok girls alive.
The duo maintained that they would not rest until the last of the girls are freed alive, saying that government needed to do more to let the nation know the state of affairs of the girls.
