The Senate on Tuesday put on hold the screening of the 27 Commissioners proposed for the Independent National Electoral Commission by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Senate took the action on Tuesday.
It demanded the removal of the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, as condition for the screening.
It said the suspension of the screening will be two weeks in the first instance.
The Senate had rejected Magu as the chairman of the EFCC over a damning report by the Department of State Services.
It also said since Magu was not fit to become the substantive chairman of the EFCC, he should vacate the office completely.
The Senate while considering the request of Buhari for the screening and confirmation of the INEC commissioners, said until Magu is removed from office, it would not consider the nominees.
