Rangers International FC of Enugu physician, Okey Ezeaku, says the club’s goalkeeper, Nana Bonsu, is ready to face Zamalek in the CAF Champions league second leg encounter in Enugu.
Ezeaku told the News Agency of Nigeria in Enugu on Saturday that the Ghanaian import was now ready for Sunday’s encounter and may be on the starting line depending on the choice of the coach.
NAN reports that the Nigerian champions will be looking forward to overturning the 4-1 deficit against the North African giant.
Ezeaku said: “We are ready in terms of medical fitness.
“Come Sunday, victory will be ours because I trust the players and they know what is at stake.
“We cannot compromise the group stage with anyone.
“But I do not think that Bonsu can displace the current goalkeeper, Itodo Akor, who did well in his absence and is still in form.
“Bonsu is a good goalkeeper no doubt, but Akor is on the same level with him; so no matter who keeps on Sunday, victory will be ours.
“Winning 3-0 is our target and it is not negotiable.
“S so the Egyptians cannot stand on our way.
“I know they were not better than us in the first leg, but luck gave them what they are now boasting with.”
NAN reports that Bonsu, who missed the first leg encounter against Zamalek due to an injury, trained with the rest of the squad on Friday.
The physician said the technical crew had been working tirelessly on the players since their arrival from Egypt to ensure victory in the second leg.
Ezeaku also said the club had written CAF on the ineligible players used against them by Zamalek in the first leg encounter in Egypt.
He said: “Inspite of the petition, we are not going to give up on getting the required result that will propel us to the group stage on Sunday.
“There is no cause for alarm because the players are all good to go for the encounter and by the grace of God we will win massively.”
