The relative peace in the Northern part of Adamawa State was on Saturday shattered by suspected members of the Boko Haram sect who were said to be hacking down victims.
They attacked a village in Madagali Local Government Area of the state called Kwamda-Kobla and killed 10 people.
The Daily Times learnt that about 20 Boko Haram members attacked the village at around 5am, hacking down men with knives and axes.
The Chairman of Madagali Local Government Council, Maina Ularamu, told reporters that the attackers did not shoot but beheaded their victims.
According to Ulamaru, members of a vigilance group had gone after the attackers before they escaped to their hideouts in the surrounding villages.
“The village is five kilometres from Gulak town but there is no security presence there as soldiers are deployed to Madagali town and Gulak only,” he said
