The Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Prof. Suleiman Elias Bogoro, will on Friday deliver the 2015 Convocation Lecture of the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ogun State.
The lecture, titled: “Nigeria’s Malignant Slide: the Imperative of Acting Beyond Palliatives,” will be held at the University Auditorium by 2pm as part of the activities marking the University’s 10th Anniversary and 2015 Convocation ceremonies.
Bogoro, a professor of Animal Science, whose research activities have produced over 45 scientific publications in journals, provincials and conference proceedings, has turned around TETFUND less than two years of his assumption of office.
He has been Consultant/Project Team Leader on several projects for the World Bank, UNDP, USAID and the Nigeria Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution.
He is a USAID/OTI Certified Master Trainer in Conflict Resolution since 2001 and World Bank’s Visiting Scientist to Veterinary School, University of Cambridge, UK between 1995 and 1996.
TASUED was licensed as the first university of education in Nigeria on November 28, 2005, becoming the second university of education in Nigeria and the eighth of such in the world.
As part of the 10th anniversary, honourary doctorate degrees will be awarded to eminent Nigerians.
Former Head of State and two-term President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, will receive Doctor of Science (Education) in Political Science, and African leading business mogul, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, will be conferred with Doctor of Science (Education) in Business Education, while the late matriarch of the Awolowo family, Chief HID Awolowo, will be honoured with a post-humous award of Doctor of Science (Education) in Education.
