Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Wednesday caused a stir at the book launch on the late matriarch of the Awolowo family, Chief Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo, when he donated N10 million in cash.
The money was brought out from Abubakar’s car while the launch of the book was on at the Ikenne, Ogun State home of the Awolowos.
Abubakar was the Chief Presenter of the book, a biography.
It was titled: “In the Radiance of the Sage: The Life and Times of HID Awolowo,” and written by Prof. Wale Adebanwi.
Abubakar described late HID Awolowo as the best First Lady Nigeria never had.
He said the late sage and Premier of the old Western Region, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, owed his successes in life largely to the contributions of his wife.
Other prominent Nigerians at the book launch were former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole; Juju music maestro, Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi; and eminent businessman and former Governor of Abia State, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, who was represented by the Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of Telegraph newspapers, Funke Egbemode.
