The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari, has, at last, unveiled his running mate.
The running mate is the former Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Yemi Osibajo.
Buhari unveiled Osibajo at a news conference in Abuja on Wednesday.
The news conference, which commenced at about 5pm, was the height of the waiting game for the unveiling of the vice presidential candidate.
The expectation of Nigerians was that the candidate would have been unfolded shortly after the emergence of Buhari as the presidential candidate of the APC at the party’s National Convention in Lagos on Thursday.
However, the waiting game had been on since then, with several names mentioned in the process.
On Tuesday, the National Chairman of the APC, John Odigie-Oyegun, had said Buhari would unveil the vice presidential candidate on Wednesday.
As early as 8am, party faithful and newsmen had gathered at the secretariat expecting the announcement.
The event was shifted to 2pm and later till 4pm.
The news conference however did not begin until 5pm.
Buhari expressed confidence in the ability of Osibajo to offer him support as his deputy.
