The Normalisation Committee of the Anambra State Football Association said on Thursday it would convene a stakeholders meeting to discuss ways to end the election crisis in the association.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that a court injunction had restrained the committee from conducting elections into the association.
The Chairman of the committee, Iloegbune Okoye, said the court injunction was frustrating as it had prevented the committee from conducting elections as directed by the Nigerian Football Federation on July 21.
The NFF had directed the committee to commence and conclude the elections within two weeks.
Okoye expressed the hope that the meeting would calm all aggrieved parties and find a way to resolve the crisis.
He said: “The members of the normalisation committee met and some issues were resolved to wit:
“We agreed that there is the need to summon a meeting of football stakeholders in Anambra State.
:We want to meet with all the candidates who subscribed for form from the local government level to the state football council level on August 8, 2015 by 10am to address some issues that are militating against election.
“Some people went to court and others are threatening to go to court and we do not want that.
“Those persons that went to court are there to delay or to throw spanner into our work.
“The normalisation committee is not happy about it, so we considered it appropriate to call a meeting so that we discuss the way forward.”
NAN reports that a High Court sitting in Aguata on July 27 adjourned the suit restraining the conduct of election into the ASFA to October 19.
