Nigerian striker, Sammy Ameobi, is understood to have held talks with Cardiff City and Wolverhampton Wanderers about a potential loan move.
It was gathered that the 23-year-old desperately needs first-team football and he is likely to boost his career in the Championship rather than scrapping for a place at Newcastle.
Ameobi is set to sign a new deal at Newcastle before being loaned out this summer.
He was in talks in Cardiff on Tuesday to tie up a potential deal with Russell Slade, with the Bluebirds keen to get him on board before the season’s big kick-off.
Ameobi made 27 appearances for United last season but has started just 21 games in the Premier League since Alan Pardew handed him his debut in 2011.
