The Niger State Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, on Friday reshuffled his cabinet, as five commissioners in the state got additional portfolios.
This was contained in a press statement by the state Commissioner of Information, Alhaji Danladi Ndayebo, that Governor Aliyu approved the changes following the resignation of five commissioners who left the cabinet to run for various political offices.
The statement said Ndayebo will now supervise the Ministry of Environment, Parks, Gardens and Forest Resources.
It also stated that the Commissioner of Agriculture and Rural Development, Prof. Muhammed Yahaya, will supervise the Ministry of Tertiary Education.
While the commissioner of Special Duties, Dr. Joshua Bawa, is to take over the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The Commissioner of Youth Development, Alhaji Abubakar Mohammed, will oversee Ministry of Sports, adding that the Commissioner of Health and Hospital Services, Hajiya Hadiza, will oversee Ministry of Agenda Affairs and Social Development.
It should be recalled that Commissioners for Environment, Alhaji Muhammed Wushishi; that of Tertiary Education, Alhaji Muhammed Nuhu; and Commissioner of Sports, Yusuf Tagwai, resigned to run for House of Representatives seats on the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The Commissioner of Gender Affairs and Social Development, Haijya Hassana Adamu, resigned to run for a seat in the state House of Assembly.
