Chairman of the National Roots Crops Research Institute Umudike, Chief Oludaisi Aina has joined the Osun central senatorial race under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying he has all it takes to unseat the incumbent All Progressive Congress (APC) senator Professor Ayo Adeyeye.
Speaking in Minna, on Tuesday after a stakeholders’ meeting of the Community in Niger state, Chief Aina confirmed that he has accepted the call of his people to come and serve them adding that “since they asked me to contest I do not have any hesitation to join the race”.
He assured the people that if eventually given the mandate he will not betray the confidence reposed in him by majority of people in the area.
According to him “It has always been my ambition to be in a position where I will touch the lives of the people positively, this I have been doing as a private man, I will not relent in this effort, because I have all it takes to unseat Adeyeye”.
Aina told Journalists in Minna that he had made the declaration of his intention known at a well attended stakeholders meeting held at Iresi, his country home recently.
Earlier, Chairman of the Iresi Community in Niger state Elder Dipo Laleye a PDP stalwart said “it is the contention of majority of people in the zone that given a higher responsibility, Chief Aina will impact more positively on the lives of people in the area.
“We called the meeting primarily to drag Chief Aina into the race following the ‘bad representation’ by Prof. Ayo Adeyeye, the All Progressive Congress APC senator representing the area in the senate and the need to get a more vibrant and grassroot oriented representation”.
Aina urged the people of Osun state and especially the Osun Central senatorial zone to throw their weight behind the 2015 presidential bid of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan saying the President and the PDP means well for Nigeria.
It was however learnt that apart from the incumbent Prof. Adeyeye, Chief Aina will contend with two other PDP aspirants for the sole ticket for the senatorial zone. The duos are Reverend E Kajogbola and Mr Kunle Alao.
