After spending over 18 months in detention, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has regained his freedom.
Kanu was let free from Kuje Prison in Abuja on Friday evening after meeting the bail conditions as pronounced by the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday.
This was confirmed by his lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor.
Kanu was arrested in an hotel in Lagos State on October 14, 2015 by operatives of the Department of State Services.
Since then, he has been in detention, either with the DSS or in prison.
Ejiofor said Kanu was released after meeting all outstanding conditions and the papers signed by the trial judge, Justice Binta Nyako.
