A popular Hausa musician in Yola, Adamawa State, Alhaji Ado Daukaka, abducted five days ago, has been found in Lafiya-Lamurde village in Lamurde Local Government Area of the state.
Daukaka told newsmen on Wednesday on phone in Yola that he was abandoned in a bush near Lafiya-Lamurde village, about 80 kilometers from Yola, by his abductors.
The artiste said he was sick, tired and weak due to hunger.
Daukaka said his abductors blindfolded and took him to a house within Jimeta area of Yola where he spent five days feeding on milk and biscuits before taking him to the bush in Lamurde.
He recalled that on the fateful Friday morning of his kidnap, the abductors, who came in a car, claimed that they were from Kano where they heard one of his good political songs and wanted him to also compose a song for them.
He added: “Immediately I entered their car, they put a gun to my head, blindfolded me and drove off.
“After going round, they took me to a house, which I believed was within the metropolis.
“They did not beat me.
“I was fed with milk and biscuits by my abductors who warned me against putting my nose into other people’s business.”
On whether his abduction has any connection with his latest song, which is critical of some politicians in the state, Daukaka said he could not really say whether there was a link or not, but had left everything to God.
Daukaka was abducted on Friday morning shortly after releasing a song criticising some politicians in the state, a development that made many of his fans to link the incident to politics.
When contacted on the development, the Adamawa State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Othman Abubakar, said he was just getting the news of Daukaka’s appearance and needed time to get the details.
